After many years living and working in London, I decided to escape the city sprawl - first heading off for some globetrotting before settling in Haslemere. A far cry from Canary Wharf, I’d fallen in love with this charming market town and the beautiful countryside around it on many visits over the years to a close friend.
Whether it’s down to nature or nurture (working parents, large extended family), a small - ok, large - part of me has always enjoyed turning chaos into organised calm, problem solving along the way. I live by the rule ‘Do it once and do it well’. We’re not talking meticulous, colour-coded order here, we’re simply talking making life easier in the long run.
Friends and family have drafted me in over the years… wardrobe refurbs, a pre-baby declutter, kitchen reorgs, house moves. It became clear that what seemed like a friendly helping hand was actually something of real value. And there was the lightbulb when I was setting up this business.
From as young as I can remember I’ve loved animals, but had to channel my frustrated desire to have my own pets into spending time with my family and friends’ animals. Yes, I was that over-enthusiastic childhood friend, wanting to help clean out your hamster’s cage, walk your dog, or sit for hours with your cat on my lap!
My first paid job at 13 was being an ‘auntie’ to my neighbour’s new dachshund puppy after school. For two years until she retired, Benji and I walked, played and curled up on the sofa for lots of belly rubs.
When I joined the ‘real’ world of work, my love for animals remained. Sadly, long hours and a petite flat prevented me from having my own pets, so I got my fix spending many weekends taking care of my cousin’s beloved Westie (sometimes along with her four children!), as well as friends’ cats and dogs.
